Hati

Split expenses, stay friends.

i

Hati is the Tagalog word for half, and for the act of dividing. It is the right name for a small app whose only job is to make splitting expenses feel like nothing.

The category is older than the smartphone, and it still asks too much of its users. Open the app, choose a group, add an item, type the amount, pick the participants, choose how to split, set a percentage, save, repeat. The friction is a tax on the exact moments that make a meal worth remembering.

Hati listens instead. Snap a receipt; it reads the items, the tax, the tip, the totals. Describe the split in plain language: "all of us, even"; "the burger is mine, everything else split four ways"; "we covered Maria, divide hers across the rest of us." The math, the rounding, the running balances are kept in the background where they belong.

The ambition is small and unfashionable. No streaks, no leaderboards, no nudges to invite ten friends. The app exists for the dinner that just happened, not for the pattern of dinners over time. When the bill is settled, Hati's job is done.
